Fishers of Men

Was in Loo for the weekend, sermon at CFC was neat, talked about going fishing.

Christianity is often depicted with a symbol of a fish:


The greek word for Fish is Ίχθύς, which the early Christians used as an acrostic

Ίησοΰς – Jesus
Χρίστός – Christ
Θεός – God
Υίος – Son
Σωτήρ – Saviour

Pretty neat! Also, the fish symbol was like a "secret sign" between Christians. Because the early church was heavily persecuted, Christians needed a way to identify themselves without being caught. A Christian would draw half the fish symbol in the ground with their foot, and if the other person completed the picture of the fish, then it was understood that they were both Christians. Kinda reminds me of the Chinese and the mooncakes with the secret messages inside. Similar, but kinda different.
